wronglisting

How it works

Map apps build business listings from many sources: old websites, data brokers, user edits and guesses. When a listing is wrong, people drive to the wrong building or call a number that no longer works. WrongListing finds those listings.

1. Your website is the starting point

We read your home page and the pages that look like contact, location or directory pages. AI picks out every place people visit in person, with the address and phone number your website gives. If your website lists two different addresses for the same place, we tell you.

2. You confirm

You see what we found before anything is compared. Fix an address, remove a place or add one we missed.

3. We look up each place

For each place we search Google Maps, Bing Maps and Apple Maps near your address, the way a customer would. When a map shows more than one possible match, we decide which listing is yours by name, phone number and category. We save a screenshot of every listing we read.

We also search the web for directory sites that repeat an old address. Those are marked as worth checking, because we cannot always tell whether a directory page means the same place.

4. What the results mean

5. Fixing a wrong listing

Each map has its own place to fix listings: Google Business Profile, Bing Places and Apple Business Connect. Anyone can also suggest an edit from the listing itself. The report links to each.

Limits

Map results change often and can differ by location and device. A listing we could not find may still exist. We check up to 20 places per website.
